Minutes, plans and passes: what ryser.id costs
By Ryan Poser, who builds ryser.idUpdated First published
The short answer
A set uses its length in minutes, and you only pay for what we find: if the tracks we find over the whole set add up to fewer minutes than you paid, the difference comes back when it is done. Every account gets 120 free minutes on the first of each month, and every set finishes, the part past your minutes found and waiting to unlock. For more, pick a plan: Opener at €2.50 a month for 6 hours, Headliner at €5 for 10 hours, or Studio at €10 for 20 hours, or pay once for life from €25. The first recognition is the same on every plan, free included; Headliner and Studio also get a second recognizer on the parts the first can't name.
In short
- What a set costs
- Its length in minutes. If we find less than you paid for, counted over the whole set, the difference comes back when the set is done. A failed run costs nothing.
- Longer than your minutes
- Still identified to the end. The rest is found and waits locked, to unlock with a plan or for that one set.
- Free
- 120 minutes every month, refilled on the first. A longer set is still worked through to the end; the rest waits behind the unlock.
- Monthly plans
- Opener €2.50 (6 hours), Headliner €5 (10 hours), Studio €10 (20 hours) a month.
- Paid once, for life
- Opener €25, Headliner €50, Studio €150: the same hours every month, with a fixed number of seats.
- Minutes that never expire
- Packs paid once: 3 hours €2.99, 10 hours €7.99 or 25 hours €19.99. About €1.00 to €0.80 an hour, against about €0.42 for Opener by the month.
- Recognition
- The same first recognition and check against the record on every plan; Headliner and Studio also get a second recognizer on the parts the first can't name. Paying also buys hours, a place ahead of free sets in the queue, uploads kept and the plan's features.
How minutes work
- You only pay for what we find. A set uses its length in minutes: a 90-minute set uses 90. When it is done, we add up the minutes of the tracks we found over the whole set, the locked part included; if that is less than you paid for, the difference comes back to you automatically, up to 120 a month on the free plan and up to a plan's hours for the month on a plan. A run that fails costs nothing: all its minutes go back.
- Every set finishes. A set longer than the minutes you have is still identified to the end. The setlist shows everything up to where your minutes ran out; the rest is found and waits locked, and the pass unlocks it with a plan or for that one set.
- Credits are minutes. Where the app still says credits, one credit is one minute of audio.
- Free minutes. Every account gets 120 minutes on the first of the month, about 2 hours. They refill rather than stack. A set longer than them is still worked through to the end; the rest waits behind the unlock.
- A plan's hours arrive every month and reset at the next one; they do not stack either. That is the same whether you pay monthly or paid once for life.
- Minutes from a pack. A pack is paid once and its minutes never expire: 3 hours €2.99, 10 hours €7.99 or 25 hours €19.99. A set uses your free or plan minutes of the month first and the pack's after. A pack costs about €1.00 to €0.80 an hour and Opener by the month about €0.42, so a plan is cheaper if you come back every month; a pack suits a set now and then. Buy one on the Minutes page.
- Free copies. When somebody already identified the same link and made it public, ryser.id offers you a copy of their result for free, or a fresh run if you prefer.
The plans
| Plan | Monthly | Or once, for life | Every month | What comes with it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | 2 hours | The same first recognition; platform links per track; checking every track of your first set; a crate of 50 records; uploads kept 7 days | |
| Opener | €2.50 | €25 (30 seats) | 6 hours | M3U8, CSV and text export, sending to Spotify and more, checking every track of every set, ahead of free sets in the queue, uploads kept, your whole crate |
| Headliner | €5 | €50 (20 seats) | 10 hours | Everything in Opener, a second recognizer on the parts the first can't name, with more hours every month |
| Studio | €10 | €150 (10 seats) | 20 hours | Everything in Headliner, royalty reports, a whole list of links in one go, the front of the queue |
6 hours is about 5 sets of an hour, 10 hours about 8 and 20 hours about 17. Prices are in euros and come from the same place the checkout charges from. See them side by side on the pricing page.
The pass
When a set needs more minutes than you have, it still runs: your minutes pay for its opening, and the rest is found too and waits locked on the setlist. The page shows a pass to unlock it: the plan that covers the rest, by the month or paid once for life, with its hours every month, or that set on its own. It says how many minutes the rest takes, and nothing more is charged until you choose. After paying, the rest unlocks right away. You can also wait: the pass says on which day your free minutes come back. With no minutes left at all, the pass shows on New run before the set starts, and the set starts as soon as you have paid.
Monthly or once for life
- Monthly fits if you want to try a plan first. Cancel whenever you like in Account, Manage billing; you keep access until the end of the month you paid for.
- For life is paid once and gives the plan's hours and features every month for as long as ryser.id runs the service. Each plan has a fixed number of seats. The terms say exactly what lifetime means.
- Switching. On a monthly plan, switch to the same plan for life or a bigger one and what you already paid by the month comes off its price, down to half of it. The monthly subscription stops at the end of the period you already paid for, and the minutes you have left that month stay.
- Moving up. Opener or Headliner for life moves up to a bigger plan for life by paying the difference, while that plan has seats left. Your seat moves with you, and the extra hours are added that month.
Refunds, invoices and paying
- Refund: within 14 days of a purchase, as long as you have not used any of its minutes. A new subscription has a withdraw button on your account page; for a plan paid once or a pack, mail [email protected].
- Invoices: every purchase gets a confirmation by mail. A monthly plan's invoices are in the billing portal (Account, Manage billing); for a plan paid once or a pack, mail [email protected] for an invoice with your details.
- Paying: through Stripe, by card and popular local methods such as iDEAL, depending on your country.
Where to see your minutes
The Minutes page in the menu shows what you have and every change to it, with its reason. When you get low, the New run page says so and links to the plans.

Questions
What is a credit?
The same as a minute. A set uses its length in minutes, and where the app still says credits, one credit is one minute of audio.
Do I pay for minutes where nothing was found?
You only pay for what we find, counted over the whole set, the locked part included. When a set is done we add up the minutes of the tracks we found; if that is less than you paid for, the difference comes back to you automatically, up to 120 a month on the free plan and up to a plan's hours for the month on a plan.
Do minutes expire?
Free minutes refill to 120 on the first of the month and do not stack. A plan's hours are a monthly allowance that resets each month, whether you pay monthly or paid once for life. Minutes bought as a pack never expire: 3 hours €2.99, 10 hours €7.99 or 25 hours €19.99, paid once. A set uses your monthly minutes first.
What does lifetime mean?
For as long as ryser.id runs the service, for your account; it cannot be transferred. If the service ever stops or shrinks materially, you hear it 60 days ahead and choose between the smaller plan and a refund of the price spread over 36 months. The terms spell it out.
Can I get my money back?
Yes, within 14 days of the purchase, as long as you have not used any of its minutes. A new subscription has a withdraw button on your account page; for a plan paid once or a pack, mail [email protected].
I pay monthly. Can I switch to a plan for life?
Yes, and what you already paid by the month counts: switching to the same plan for life or a bigger one takes it off the price, down to half of that price. Your monthly subscription stops at the end of the period you already paid for, and the minutes you have left that month stay.
